Required Outside Visit: Wolfsonian-FIU Museum

I went to the Museum with some classmates from WARP: Emma & Stephanie, as well as a friend from out of town: Stephanie. Other class mates were there too.
 
 This was our tour guide, Isabella.
 
 Look at those precious expressions.
 This was myself with Stephanie and my friend Mary in front of the sign. I picked them up and drove them as soon as I got out of work so they are nicer dressed than I am. Parking also sucked by the way. 15 dollars.
 This is my official assignment photo in front of the sign as proof.
 
 I caught Stephanie & Mary off guard while they were listening to the lecture.
 
 Emma met up with us there. I caught them in a photo while they were taking a photo.
 
Stephanie & Emma. They look great right! I think we all had a decent time even though it was far and my driving at night to a place I have never been and paying for gas and parking wasn't that great.



These were the pieces I chose to write about. The top is about Women's Suffrage, the 2nd is depicting The Great Depression, and the last 2 are about WW2 (both propaganda but the bottom is a painting depicting historical figures through the ages and is about the Danes standing up to the invading Hitler forces during the war and the other is a poster geared towards Americans after the war).

I read two of the mentioned linked pages completely. One about C-Comics and one about the "In Pieces" book by Marion Fayolle . Ultimately I decided to cover a piece by Marion Fayolle where there appears to be a couple that are engaged in a romantically intimate situation before separating and the apparent masculine figure then touches a dress on a tertiary figure which stains his hands blue and provides some sort of proof at attempted unfaithfulness or infidelity or perhaps it is proof that the initial feminine figure did not really know this secondary figure who is now marked as a sort of deviant. Figure one then appears to slap figure two, evident by the handprint on the face of figure two, and then end in a form of separation be it permanent or temporary. A lot of the works on this page and in this book appear to be about feminism, identity, sexuality, gender and gender roles, and similar themes.

Topic Three: Rhinoceros, Part Three Portrait and Propaganda   I chose to do the assignment on my mother. As soon as the assignment was given, I already had a multitude of ideas and immediately started sketching thumbnails. I knew right away that I wanted to do a bunch of pieces in different mediums; everything from collages to videos. Unfortunately I was unfamiliar with most of these methods and did not have time to learn them all. I also initially wanted to display my mother smiling in her portrait and then have my propaganda piece depict her as a stern, authoritative figure. I still wanted my message to be structured the same and similar in concept "The mother you should be" but I realized (as we discussed in class) that because society really only has 1 way to positively depict mothers and motherhood and what it should be, If I did depict my mother as this strong woman who ruled the household with an iron fist (and she does, our household would fall apart witho...
