Topic Three: Rhinoceros, Part Two
This reading really messed me up and it definitely effected the way I viewed this assignment. I was so disgusted with our society and how we used even photography to screw entire nations of people over and perpetuate stereotypes and misconceptions. More than anything it made me re-evaluate myself. What do I really know about Native American people? There are natives of Africa, Australia, South America, North America, and we treat them all like crap even now. And what am I doing to help them or to change that? I think I'm an ally to Native American people as if I have some sort of insight others don't, why? Because I listen to a now mainstream music group that just happen to be Native American, I'm interested in this "mysterious" culture that isn't mine, I listened to what a few Indigenous people had to say and read some articles?
